Rita is a black-bi (min. white) by Logan Ridge Boo out of Slash V Sweet Innocent Josie, STDs. She is out of the first litter from this mating and DNA-VP (pending). I chose Rita's name because of those big brown eyes that just melt your heart. Rita is by far the most cunning of the litter. She is extremely quiet, thinking and exhibits a moderate amount of eye.
Rita has shown a lot of potential and is developing into a very nice cattle dog sorting and gathering the bull, cow/calf pairs and bull calves. She will go to head if necessary or stay at the heel and drive. She works with a moderate amount of eye and finesse on sheep. Her grouping and gathering instincts are strong and she has excellent balance on stock. Rita’s intelligence, willingness to accept training and working ability on cattle is much the same as her Sire Boo. It has been amazing to watch her develop in to an all-around ranch hand. She is also a very quiet, fun companion as a trail dog on our horseback rides.
Rita earned her STDc title with 1st and 2nd place finishes and her first leg in STDs at the GAASC in Cartersville, Ga in October 2008. It was a pleasure trialing her on cattle to show her natural abilities, control and grit that she uses daily as our *go to* dog on our farm. She completed her STD sheep title at FCASA in February 2009 with a score of 77 which earned her a 3rd place finish. After an injury to Emmy in September 2010, I pulled Rita back in to the trialing arena in the Peach State Classic with no formal arena training at that point. She completed her STDd title and progressed very nicely in the open division in Cattle. In December 2010, we ran in Open Cattle (105) and Open Sheep and earned one leg in each. At the February 2011 Ga. Performance Aussies trial in Ballground, Ga., Rita earned 1st place and one Qualifying leg in OTDd. March 2011 at the GAASC trial, she earned her Open duck title and did an awesome job on some tough cattle. At the Cherokee Rose Stock trial on April 30th and May 1st 2011, Rita earned both her OTD sheep and cattle with style. She earned a 112 on Open cattle and a 98 in Open sheep.
She is currently (as of 05/31/11 postings) ranked 2nd in the ASCA merit program in Open Cattle and 8th in Open Sheep. Rita finished with 8 first placements in sheep and in cattle, at the Cherokee Rose. With those wins she has accumulated 166 points in Open cattle and 136 points in Open Sheep, we are so pleased to see finish this strong in her first year of official trialing in ASCA's 2011 merit competition. 4 weeks old - Look at those eyes! The photos above and to the middle right are at 16 months of age.
The series below and across are at 19 months |
The photos below is 5 months of age. Truly this girl has potential...
Above: Rita is showing incredible drive going to stock. She has a moderate amount of eye and tons of guts. At this age I kept her on a long line for her safety. She is also very quiet and a thinker.

The next series of photos are from May 2008 and 19 ,months of age.
Above she brings the heifer in to the barn feed lot. Working with control and a biddable nature, Rita has become my right hand and has been the fastest to pick up on daily chore work with the cattle. |
