Welcome to the South...

Coosawattee Farm is a 100 acre farm located on the lower end of the Coosawattee River.  The Coosawattee’s head waters begin in Gilmer County and travel through the North Georgia mountains south to create Carter’s Lake and then proceeds west across the edge of Murray County in to the northeast section of Gordon County.

The farm originated in the early 60’s and has produced and supported a variety of different livestock including poultry, pork and beef.  Today, we run about 30 head of commercial beef cattle and a few registered Angus cows and bulls.  Our commercial beef cattle are primarily Gelbvieh/Angus and Brangus crosses.

My father has managed the farm since the early 60’s.  He and my mom are now enjoying retirement and he supervises only a few special projects of his choosing.

Tony and I love our life and our lifestyle.  There's always something going on but you still have time to relax and enjoy a hike with the dogs through the woods and up the river bank. My son, Jeremy and his wife Brooke, my daughter Sarah and Josh her boyfriend provide support to the farm operation as their work and school schedules allow.  Tony's son, Cale, just graduated from Piedmont College. Cale's major was mass communications. His interest is in sports announcing and has done an awesome job producing live radio broadcast and doing play-by-play for the basketball and baseball programs at Piedmont.

The poultry part of the farm business closed down after the blizzard of 1993 and the poultry house is now used for horse stalls and hay storage.  We produce and cut most of our own hay supply.

Sarah is taking a break from competing in professional rodeo competition at the moment.  She will be completing her associates degree in BA is concentrating on finishing her major in BA, Accounting at Kennesaw State University in 2011.

We also enjoy Team Penning and Cutting.

Both the horses and our stockdogs are used for chores around the farm.

Tony is currently training a couple different breeds of stockdogs and giving several folks handling lessons.  We are planning a few clinics and fun days in the near future.

We have several Indian Runner x Kaki ducks for training in case there is a sudden upsurge in need for duck ranch dogs.

Hope you're enjoying your time getting to know our family.  If you're ever in Northwest Georgia drop in... we'd love to show you around.  But don’t be surprised if we put you to work.
