Josie is a Diamond S Sam daughter out of Slash V Sweet N Innocent (Lodi). She was the second bitch that I acquired with Slash V /Hang’n Tree breeding. Josie is a full sister to WTCH Slash V Dark Rider PATDsc. Dark Rider (aka Sam) was a young male that I was able to observe being trained at my farm here in Georgia for Terry Martin's Slash V Kennel to compete in the 2000 ASCA Nationals. Sam was perhaps the most complete working dog that I'd had the pleasure to watch mature: Powerful on cattle; Finesse on sheep; Stealthy on ducks. Josie is a dark blue merle that was brought because of her genetic potential and she produces it. She is a very powerful worker that handles cattle with ease and as you can tell below prefers the head. She is developing more confidence on the heeling side, slowing down and driving larger groups of cows. She has a lot of power and courage on stock despite her size. Josie has nice balance and is getting better each day rating cattle. She is probably the most loving, cuddling Aussies I have ever had. Her preferred spot at night is either under my feet or curled up in my lap. She is very protective and territorial of me and Sarah. She is reserved with strangers and keeps her distance until she senses their purpose and my acceptance of them. Josie's only trialing time was in May of 2003, when I went to Dothan, AL to watch a trial. I did not go to compete with Josie but was talked in to it on the second day by Russ Ford. She received qualifying scores from Russ Ford (74) and Roger Stevens (86) in sheep/goats. I was only able to trial her under Russ in cattle. She earned a qualifying score of 83. I’m looking for some great potential in her off spring. Check back for more on Josie and her kids...

How could you not love this face. Below: The toughness and confidence to hit a head can't be taught, it just has to come natural... one quote I have heard rings so true... "you can't push a rope!" |
